Inside the Pension Boardroom
The ACPM Pension Academy launches with Inside the Pension Boardroom - a one-day, instructor-led program designed to strengthen the effectiveness of pension trustees and directors at a critical stage of their board tenure.
Created for trustees and directors in their first three years of service, the program provides a practical, governance-focused foundation that builds the role clarity, oversight capability, and technical fluency required to contribute confidently at the board table.
Grounded in findings from the 2025 ACPM Pension Trustee Survey, the curriculum responds directly to trustee-identified needs for:
- Clearer understanding of fiduciary duties and the board’s oversight role
- Stronger fluency in actuarial valuations, funding policies, and key assumptions
- Greater confidence in investment oversight and risk governance
- Practical, in-person learning rooted in real-world pension board scenarios
Participants gain insight into a typical board agenda cycle - from funding decisions to investment monitoring and risk oversight - and leave better prepared to ask informed questions, interpret complex materials, and discharge their governance responsibilities with confidence.
The program is interactive and built around short case discussions drawn from real pension environments.
