Moving Pension Plan Communications

onto the Digital Highway
It’s the digital age, but not in the pension world, where many communications and forms remain paper-based. Recent amendments to Ontario’s Pension Benefits Act are intended to facilitate electronic communications with pension plan members. 

Will they prove to be a path to reducing paper usage or are they too cumbersome or costly for all but the biggest plans? What are some considerations for plans that are multi-jurisdictional? How can plans meet their regulatory requirements in this increasing electronic environment, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic? What are the other considerations when moving a pension plan into the electronic age? 
This session will explain the requirements of the new rules, how they can be used in both defined benefit and defined contribution pension plans and discuss the considerations and limitations in the current environment.
