Governance is the framework by which pension plans are directed and controlled. Governance principles should apply to all types and sizes of pension plans and all parties responsible for pension plans (i.e. plan sponsor, administrator or trustee). An effective framework is critical to adapting to the changing circumstances of a pension plan. While each plan is unique, the importance of executing on a governance framework is not.
Our session will narrow in on three areas of pension plan governance: Education, Succession Planning and Communication. More specifically, our panelists will present on their own personal experiences with executing in one of these areas. They will speak to their structure and highlight challenges and successes they have witnessed.
Our panel includes:
- Andrew Bone, HRM Pension Plan Committee
- Ross Galbraith, Trustee, New Brunswick Public Service Pension Plan
- Jane Blakely, Director, Consulting and Human Resources, City of Fredericton
We will end our session with our keynote speaker, Duncan Burrill, Managing Director/CEO, CBC Pension Board of Trustees, who will tie in the above topics and his experience in executing on these three key areas of a governance framework.
